## Frequently asked questions

### What is a deferred deep link?

A deep link that survives the app install. If the app isn't installed yet, the user goes to the App Store or Play Store, and on first open lands on the screen the link pointed to, with all link parameters intact.

### How is a deferred deep link different from a regular deep link?

A regular deep link only works when the app is already installed. A deferred deep link remembers the destination through the install and delivers it on first open.

### Which platforms does Detour support?

React Native, iOS (Swift Package Manager or CocoaPods), Android (Gradle) and Flutter (pub.dev). The SDK has the same API shape on every platform.

### How does deferred deep linking work on iOS?

iOS doesn't pass any referrer data through the App Store, so Detour matches the install to the click by scoring device signals: IP, user agent, model, timezone and locale. A match is returned only above the score threshold you configure.

### How does deferred deep linking work on Android?

On Android, Google Play's Install Referrer passes the click ID into the app, so the match is exact.
