A deep link routes a user directly to a specific screen in your app – but only if the app is already installed. A deferred deep link does the same, but also survives the app installation process: if the app isn't installed yet, the link preserves the user's intended destination and context, routing them to the right screen on the very first open.
Yes. Detour hosts the required configuration files for both platforms – the Apple App Site Association (AASA) file for iOS Universal Links, and the assetlinks.json file for Android App Links.
Yes. Detour supports custom domains, allowing you to map your deep links to your own infrastructure instead of using a generic Detour URL.
Most deep linking tools like Branch or AppsFlyer are built primarily for marketers, with developer experience as an afterthought. Detour is built developer-first: it's open-source, lightweight, and easy to integrate with your existing navigation setup – including Expo Router. It's also free to start and will offer self-hosting for teams with stricter data privacy requirements.
